Midland Networks install all forms of structured cabling: Cat5e, Cat6 & Fibre Fibre Optics. Category 5 enhanced cabling (CAT5e) is the latest specification for CAT5 cable. It supports networking at Gigabit Ethernet speeds of up to 1000 Mbps over short distances by utilising all four wire pairs, and it is backward-compatible with the standard CAT5. Cat5e is now the most popular type of new cabling installation for voice & data.

Category 6 cabling (CAT6) is a similar design to CAT5e but oers communications at up to twice the speed. CAT6 offers a much higher frequency of signal and the bandwidth supported is much larger, allowing more network traffic than ever. Most suitable for customers looking for a higher speed data network and with a little extra budget. A technology that uses glass (or plastic) threads (fibers) to transmit data. A fibre optic cable consists of a bundle of glass threads, each of which is capable of transmitting messages modulated onto light waves. Fibre optics are the best option for making long distance connections without signal degradation, or for high speed connections of 10 Ghz per second and beyond.

Traditional Telephone Cabling or Telecom cabling – also known as 1308 or CW1308 cabling – is designed for telephone lines and extensions as well as connecting telephones to a telephone system. Unlike structured cabling, telecoms cabling uses one pair of wires from a larger cable for each telephone, which is often wired through distribution boxes at a central point. This is a very cost eective method for traditional telephone systems.
